Singapore Food Festival 2014


An invited Media Preview on Singapore Food Festival held on 18 June 2014 at Palawan Beach, Sentosa.

Singapore Food Festival is an annual anticipated event to inculcate foodies to the diversity and richness of flavors and cooking styles that make up the local food-scape. This year, it will take place from 11 to 20 July 2014. The highlight of this year event is a walk down memory lane as it features some popular SFF events from the past with a twist.

As part of the 21st year of the Singapore Food Festival, ION Orchard basement will also play host to a unique SFF pop-up store focusing on heritage food with a modern twist.






BBQ BY THE BEACH
Date: 11, 12, 18 and 19 July 2014
Time: 6.30 pm to 10.30 pm
Location: Palawan Beach, Sentosa
Pricing: Adult - $79 to $99 / Child - $29 to $39 (Aged 3 to 10)

Highlight: First sand dining concept created by renowned local sand sculptor, Joo Heng Tan. It offers the succulent barbequed seafood and meats grilled using the traditional Hawaiian underground barbeque pit known as the ‘Imu’. Must try dishes are Barbeque Sambal Chilli Stingray, Baked King Prawns, Grilled Beef Rump and Barbeque Whole Lamb.







SOUTH EAST SLIDERS @ ION ORCHARD
Date: 11 to 20 July 2014

Highlight: Helmed by Chef Damian D’Silva, it will feature his radical take on familiar Singapore dishes like Beef Rendang and Chicken Debal. This pop-up concept is driven by Chef Damian’s relentless pursuit to preserve the heritage behind our ethnic food while innovating to make it appeal to the younger generation. His signature dishes are Lim Peh Slider – a pastry pocket filled with shredded Rendang, caramelized onions, pickle, lettuce and swiss cheese and Big D Slider – a pastry pocket filled with shredded Chicken Debal, relish, lettce, egg and smoked cheese.






NONYA MOBILE
Date: 12 to 17 July 2014

Highlight: This is a food event on wheels that aims to showcase the richness of Paranakan culture and heritage by offering food tasting, interactive exhibits and cooking demonstrations. Chef Kenny Chan is one of the participating Chefs and he will show casing his signature dishes like Chicken Pong Teh, Grilled Chicken Pong The, Sambal Udang and Sambal Udang Sandwiches.









SUVAI
Date: 17 to 20 July 2014
Time: 6 to 11 pm (17 July) and 12 pm to 11 pm (18 to 20 July)
Location: In Little India opposite Serangoon Plaza
Pricing: $18.00 (all day pass inclusive of $10 Suvai dollars and access to master classes and hands-on classes). Free admission for 12 years old and below. 

Highlight: Organised by Chefs and Culinary Association (Singapore), it hopes to inspire interest in the local Indian culinary scene by 8 renowned chefs. Attendees can look forward to an array of activities from competitions, entertainment and master classes. Their signature dish is Grilled Roulade Prata. 





SINGAPORE CHINESE DIALECT HERITAGE FEAST
Date: 11 – 20 July 2014
Time: 11 am to 11 pm
Location: Chinatown Food Street along Smith Street
Pricing: Free admission but pay for purchases

Highlight: Chinatown Food Street has specially curated 20 Chinese dialect dishes like Hakka Richshaw Noodle, Hakka Abacus Seeds, Hokkien Rice Bowl Cake, Teochew Yam Paste with Gingko Nuts and Hakka Yong Tau Foo.
