Ah Boy Chicken Rice : Not bad but not quite the best

Ah Boy Chicken Rice has been one of the most talked about chicken rice in the western part of Singapore as Local celebrity chef Eric Teo has shared on his facebook page that this is one of the best chicken rice that he has ever tasted in Singapore. He said their chicken is very tender and he particularly liked their chili as it is full of flavor with fresh pureed ginger added. The exact location is in V6 Food Court at Choa Chua Kang Crescent, just a stone's throw from Yew Tew MRT station. Mr Chai, the owner, came from Malaysia and prior to opening this stall, he has worked in different hotels.

I managed to try their roasted chicken, the skin was done well to leave a crispy layer with tender meat beneath. It was drizzled lightly with soya sauce to serve. The sauce did not taste too saltish nor overwhelm the flavor of the chicken. Their rice was flavorful and of the grainy texture, rather fluffy too and not overly greasy. The chili tasted a bit diluted and not as spicy as i liked it to be. It also served with a small handful of achar.

It was served with a big bowl of szechuan vegetable and chicken feets soup. The taste was rather warming with a slight hint of spiciness and a well-balanced saltish flavor, especially good for rainy weather.

Overall, his chicken rice was quite decent but not good enough to be amongst the best chicken rice in my list. I would not mind eating again if i happen to be in the vicinity.
